A Study On The Historical Evolution And Modern Development Of Lamaism In Hohhot Area

In the Mongolian development of history, the evolution of their religious beliefs was winding compared with other ethnic groups. That who inherited and developed other ethnic fine culture of those people living in this vast grasslands still keeped the distinct characteristics of nomadic culture.Due to the factors such as natural environment, lifestyle, shamanism culture’s caused a huge influence on the formation and development of Mongolian culture. According to the records, the ancient mongolians worshiped the nature objects dominated by the heaven. Foy the Mongolian people, rulers of the heaven would be their only, that is great "longevity".Genghis khan had been still influenced by shamanism, so he called "the immortal strength of heaven", "verification", "heaven force theory" as his basic belief and philosophy.After the 13th century, Buddhism spread to the Tibetan areas and combined with local culture and finally formed the lamaism, which gradually replaced and dominated the Lamaism. Especially after the Mongolian rulers vigorously favored the lamaism, the traditional religion-shamanism was hit deadly and gradually fade out people’s field of vision.In mid and late 14th century, Mongolian rulers still supported the lamaism, and adopted a series of policy to support the development of lamaism, so the shamanism was eventually replaced by the lamaism. As Tibetan Buddhism introduced Mongolia area, Tibetan Buddhism absorbed and combined some Mongolian primitive shamanism Religious doctrine and Religious rites and then formed a new Tibetan Buddhism with a strong Mongolian nationality, also called lamaism. The Mongolian ancient gods idea mainly was absorbed by the Buddhism, but those gods still played the role of protection functions of the secular.In the history of Tibetan Buddhism introduction to the Mongolia area, after a successful conversion they shouldered the responsibility of the protecting temple again. Therefore, the Mongolia region gradually formed a more vital religion system ---forming a unique culture pattern in which the Tibetan Buddhism taken the body function and meanwhile mixed the many local culture.Called temple of Hohhot, This paper is dedicated to studying the historical evolution of the lamaism culture, cultural development and some problems they met today with dazhaolamasi in huhehaote. Through studying the process of production introduction and development of lamaism in dazhaosi, this paper would think its significance.
