Diaspora literature has increasingly being the research object of the Chinese-Americans’ self-image and identity issues since the middle of the twentieth century, but for the new generation of Chinese American writers, they are more worthy of study. Contemporary Chinese-American writer Gish Jen has a high visibility in the history of Chinese-American literature. Her works are centered on the minority life, the issue of their cultural identity and their pursuit of dreams as the Americans. She advocates social interactions between different ethnic languages and thoughts and free transformations of cultural identity beyond the ethnic backgrounds,which offers a significant reference to the Chinese-Americans during the current era of globalization and multi-cultural society."The Love Wife" is about the description of the conflicts among members of a new multi- racial American family. In spite of cultural difference, racial integration,and the contradiction of family dispute, the family members in the novel could live in harmony. It points out that the elements of home are not race and blood but the mutual understanding and caring about others. This work conveys belief of breaking through the ethnic boundaries and regressing harmonious home. This paper is divided into three parts, the introduction, the main parts and the conclusion. The introduction mainly introduces the research status of the topic of writers and works and related concepts, like” diaspora literature” and ”Imaginary Homeland”, and the mainly parts firstly discusses the change of the Imaginary Homeland of this work’s main characters and analyzes the influential elements to their changes from the transformation of roles,the change of lineages and cultural collision three aspects. Based on that converts cultural identity from the United States, traditional culture and multicultural growth to imagine their homes in the works of three kinds of diaspora are discussed and change,the conclusion of this paper through further analysis to come to a conclusion and the disadvantages of my study. This paper focuses on the conscious of the Imaginary Homeland change of main characters from different aspects in The Love Wife from confusion, adaptation to combination. Puts forward the identity symbol of desalination and multi-cultural integration in homeland consciousness can help the main characters obtain freedom and liberation in order to achieve a better home in the future.
