| Leni Riefenstahl is a famous Germen movie director in the 1930s, but as she has directed films prapogating Nazi such as Triumph Of The Will, she is quite controversial in her life path. Her works has achieved Gold Award for Venice Film Festival, Top Prize for Film Art in Paris International Film Expo etc. The achievements listed above are presentations of her art talents. At the same time, serving for Nazi authorities and being intimate with Hitler, Goebbels, Leni has been accused for being a Nazi member. However, even being condemned and appeared often in the Germen critical list, Leni’s works cannot be erased in the history of films.In the history of movie arts, the phenomenon of movie arts value in conflict with moral value m ay dates back to the Birth of a Nation by David Llewelyn Wark Griffith. Researchers study the mont age strategy used by Griffith usually isolated from his value of a racist. However, research on Riefen stahl’s movie arts, with the deep reflection on the Second World War by European and American int ellectuals, constantly comes to the myth, fiction, appreciation functions arts plays in politics. Since t he 1930s, Leni Reifenstahl’s movie works has formed more and more abundant value and annotation space in the constant conversation with intellectuals.Since the 1930s, Leni’s films have enriched their meaning and connotation in their conversation with history. This thesis mainly starts with multiple explainations for her most controversial film Triumph Of The Will. Through searching and analyzing existing theses and books on Leni’s life path and works, this thesis combs the timeline of research on Leni. Following the path of academic development history, this thesis digested multiple critical viewpoints under different theories. This thesis mainly consists of three parts, the first part is a brief expaination of writing methodology foundation: Philosophy and Hermeneutics; the second part is a timeline summary and research classification. The third part is an overall summary and analysis on her most representative works, from the perspectives of traditional film critics, body politics criticism, social phychology analysis and culture criticism etc.In all, this thesis puts Leni’s film works into the entire academic development history, then tries to explain and analyze from the perspective of Philosophical Hermeneutics. This thesis presents the basic pattern of academic history and history of thoughts surrounding an individual case. |
