A Study Of Lü

The main contribution LvCheng made to the Buddhism theory is evaluating the differences between Indian and Chinese Buddhism objectively using the nature of idea as a standard. Through the study of origin and development of Buddhism, he presents "Thought of original silence" and "Thought of original enlightenment" to represent the nature of idea of Indian and Chinese Buddhism respectively. This thesis will set the nature of idea of LvCheng as research object and reveal his train of Thoughtt by clearing up the connotations of "Thought of original silence" and "Thought oh original enlightenment" he presents. The specific details and innovation points are as follow.The first chapter is introduction, which includes the research background, research status, innovation points and structure arrangement of this thesis.The second chapter mainly introduces the Buddhism system of LvCheng named "Wuke". LvCheng divides whole Buddhism into three relevant stages in terms of "Buddhism is heart-mind theory", and targets "XinXingBenJing", "SheRanQuJing", "YuanJingFaJie" to each stage separately. It is thus clear that LvCheng masters whole Buddhism using nature of mind as Links, simultaneously, researches nature of mind based on the Buddhism system of "Wuke". The study to the Buddhism system of "Wuke" is the first innovation point of this thesis.The third chapter mainly introduces the debate between LvCheng and XiongShili about basic Buddhism issues. In that debate, LvCheng explains the concepts as "Thought oh original silence ", "Thought of original enlightenment ", "GeXin" and "FanBen", and further takes "Thought of original silence" and "Thought of original enlightenment" as the sign of nature of idea between Indian and Chinese Buddhism. It is thus clear that "Thought of original silence" and "Thought of original enlightenment" are the inalienable clues to the nature of idea of LvCheng. The Clarification on that debate is the second nnovation point of this thesis.The fourth chapter mainly discriminates the nature of idea of LvCheng logically and theoretically, which is the principal part of this thesis. The nature of idea of LvCheng originats from "XinXingBenJing", uses "Thought oh original silence " and "Thought of original enlightenment" as links, and ends with "ZhuanYi". Specifically, he certifies "Thought oh original silence " from "XinXingBenJing", negates "Thought of original enlightenment " from Awakening of Mahayana Faith, and establishes the view of practice centered on "ZhuanYi" ultimately, through distinguishing "Thought of original silence" and "Thought of original enlightenment". The comprehensive logical analysis about the nature of idea of LvCheng is the third nnovation point of this thesis.The epilogue part summarizes this thesis and provides some references to future research.
