Recently Korean Language’s education has sprung up everywhere. As an agglutinative language type, Korean language has very well-developed suffix system and almost all the grammatical meanings are expressed by these suffixes. Therefore in the learning of Korean language, how to master the use and the different meanings of suffixes has been the most important work. And in order to make the students learn them well, there must be a so-called scientific and uniform standard for the proper choice and import sequence of the suffixes during the process of compiling textbooks and dictionaries. However, so far, how to import and explain the suffixes and their grammatical meanings have been the hard nut for editors. In other words, by now we have no scientific and uniform standard for the suffixes which can be widely accepted by the academic circle. And this fact has influenced the quality of Korean textbooks directly. With the development of computer technology, there are more methods for linguistic research. Computational linguistics is a discipline between linguistics and computer science, which applies computer science, especially mathematical statistics to analyze the linguistic phenomena In order to estimate the quality of Korean textbook, this thesis has selected "Korean Language Course" as the research object, which is widely used in China’s colleges and universities. By using the method of computational linguistics, this thesis aims to investigate Korean subordinating suffixes usage for a series of statistical work, and on this basis, finally to complete the rank lists of frequency of each subordinating suffix and their wealthy grammatical meanings. The innovation and significance of this thesis are as follows:Firstly, this thesis uses the method of computational linguistics to investigate Korean subordinating suffixes usage, including the rank lists of frequency of each subordinating suffix and their grammatical meanings. And this would provide a scientific and uniform standard for the proper choice and import sequence of the subordinating suffixes during the process of compiling textbooks and dictionaries. Secondly, previous computational linguistics studies have mainly focused on the frequency of words or suffixes, while the studies on the frequency of grammatical meanings are very few. This thesis has figured out not only the frequency of each subordinating suffix, but also the frequency of their grammatical meanings, in which the biggest innovation point of this thesis lies. The last but not the least, by comparing the results of this thesis with the related information in South Korea and North Korea, the quality of Korean textbook "Korean Language Course" has been objectively reflected, and on this basis good suggestions also have been made. That is to say, according to the rank lists of the frequency of each subordinating suffix and their grammatical meanings, the subordinating suffix or grammatical meaning of high frequency means it plays a very important role in Korean language, so it should be imported early in Korean textbook and vice.versa.This thesis has treated the subordinating suffixes in "Korean Language Course" as the research object, and with the method of computational linguistics and comparing with he related information in South Korea and North Korea, has finally figured out the rank lists of frequency of each subordinating suffix and their grammatical meanings. Author hopes that this research result would provide a scientific and uniform standard for the proper choice and import sequence of the subordinating suffixes during the process of compiling textbooks and dictionaries.
