The dissertation firstly summarizes the past researches of the progressive and durative aspect of the Chinese language from the perspective of ontology and second language acquisition. Then, based on the relevant past researches, the paper classifies the progressive and durative aspects of the Chinese language into eight types which are listed below:A:Zai+VP, B:Zheng+VP, C:Zhengzai+VP, D:V+Zhe+(O), E:Zheng+V+Zhe+(O), F:Zai+V+Zhe+(O), G:Zhengzai+V+Zhe+(O), H:VP+Ne.According to a quantitative study on native Chinese language and inter-language materials, we compare the usage of progressive and durative aspect in native Chinese language with the inter-language. Then, the paper discusses the error situation and the causes of errors by analyzing the error ratio of each type. In order to improve the teaching efficiency, we discuss the arrangement of relevant grammar points in four different sets of textbooks, and put forward meaningful suggestions of teaching.The dissertation is consists of six chapters, which are briefed as below:Chapter One is an introduction of the reason, meaning and method of the research.Chapter Two is the summary of the past research on progressive and durative aspects of the Chinese language.Chapter Three discusses the classification of progressive and durative aspects’ various meanings and functions. Taking reference of predecessors’points of view, we divide the functions of progressive and durative aspects into8types.Chapter Four studies the output volume of progressive and durative aspects in inter-language materials, supplemented by a comparison with the statistics of native Chinese language materials.Chapter Five focuses on error analysis of sentences with progressive and durative aspects, and probe the causes and origins behind them.Chapter Six, make proposals on the teaching of progressive and durative aspects according to the analysis result and four sets of Chinese textbooks.Chapter Seven is the conclusion of the dissertation.
