The Turkish writer Ferit Orhan Pamuk is one of the most important novelists in the contemporary era. He won the Nobel Literature Award in2006and became the first Turkish to win the Nobel Literature Award. In the creation of his novels, Pamuk sets the history and reality of Turkey as the creation background and expresses the conflicts and integration of the eastern and western culture. The pronouncement words from the Swedish Academy for Pamuk are:during the melancholy soul of his hometown new symbols of conflicts and integration between civilizations have been discovered. Currently, foreign and domestic scholars" researches on Pamuk also mainly focus on the aspect of the conflicts and integration of the east and the west, traditional and modern.Pamuk has mentioned that his literary creations have much to do with Sophie literature in many interviews. Sophie literature belongs to Islam literature; it is a literature with the theme of propagating the Sophie mysticism thoughts. Pamuk speaks highly of this kind of literature and cherishes it the most. He himself has done massive readings and researches in Sophie literature. His works as a result present the characters of Sophie literature. This paper, based on the careful readings of the contexts of the five novels:The White Castle, The New Life, The Black Book, My Name is Red and Snow, centering the relations between Pamuk’s works and Sophie literature, supported by relevant theories of Sophie literature, starts from the literary perspective and analyzes the specific representations of Sophie literature in Pamuk’s works; then it combines with the historical background of Turkey and explores the realistic value of Pamuk’s creation form.This paper includes three parts:introduction, text and conclusion.The introduction mainly straightens the current foreign and domestic research situation of Pamuk and states the subject source, research tasks and the innovation of the paper.The text is divided into four chapters.The first chapter:outlines of Sophie literature This chapter mainly introduces the ideological contents and development process of Sophie literature and sets examples of the famous Sophie litterateur and his works to demonstrate the features of Sophie literature. This chapter also briefly introduces the relations between Pamuk"s works and Sophie literature, including Pamuk’s reasons of learning Sophie literature, experiences and the impacts exerted on Pamuk’s novel creation by Sophie literature.The second chapter:shape of Sophie literature figure image in Pamuk’s novels.In this chapter, the author combines detailed context and from the aspect of figure image, conducts detailed explanations of the Sophie literature characters in Pamuk’s novels. This chapter has three parts and each part respectively analyzes three kinds of figure image with Sophie literary meanings in Pamuk’s novel:servant to love, Sadhu and perfect person. It is through the successful shape of the figure images in Sophie literature that the Sophie literature characters in Pamuk’s novels can achieve the preliminary presentation.The third chapter:Transplant of the Sophie literature plot modes in Pamuk’s novelIn order to thoroughly master the Sophie literature characters in Pamuk’s novels, this chapter stars from the perspective of story plots, and makes comparisons between Pamuk’s novels and Sophie classic literary works to testify the pursuit mode in Pamuk’s novels is the transplant of the classic pursuit mode in Sophie literature. This chapter is divided into three parts, which respectively refers to the three phases of the pursuit mode in Sophie literature plots:enlightenment perceiving phase, imitation replacing phase and consciousness sublimation phase. Pamuk transplants the classic pursuit mode in Sophie literature to his own novel, which thoroughly presents the Sophie literature characters in the novel.The fourth chapter:the realistic meaning of Pamuk novels’Sophie style composition.This chapter mainly combines the historical background of Turkey and deeply excavates the realistic meaning of Pamuk novels’Sophie style composition to reveal Pamuk’s thoughts about national identity, conflicts and integrations of the eastern and western cultures, furthering explaining Pamuk’s true intention of using Sophie literature composition and the writer’s composition concept of culture hybridity. The conclusion part points out that Pamuk adds many elements of Sophie literature in his creations. Whether in the figures or the plots of the story, the novels all present the characters of distinct Sophie literature. Pamuk’s Sophie style of composition, on one hand, reflects the contradictory crux in the modernization process of Turkey; on the other hand, it shows the writer’s attention of the nations’destiny as well as his explorations of Turkey’s future.All in all, Pamuk’s novels possess distinct characters of Sophie literature. The writer makes his novels present the eastern mysterious colors different from the western novels through spontaneous absorption and creative application of Sophie literature and brings out new liveliness and vividness inside this ancient Islam literature in the contemporary era.
