The hermits in the Qin and Han dynasties, especially in the Eastern Han Dynasty, attract more attentions more than ever. They were firstly appeared as a group. There are more historical records about the hermits’family relationship. It has an interactive influence between the hermits and their family which was a dynamic development to keep and develop this relationship.This article will discuss the family relationship about the hermits in the Eastern Han Dynasty from three aspects:The first part focuses on the phenomenon of the Eastern Han Dynasty recluse. Seclusion occurs mainly under the two dynasties of Han and the late Eastern Han Dynasty, this period of seclusion mainly had three types:seclusion after official, official after seclusion, lifelong seclusion and so on. On the one hand Hermits in the Eastern Han Dynasty appeared as a group, on the other hand their life was more ordinary, the concern of their family was also greatly enhanced. Through a more detailed discussion of these contents, we will have a clear overview.The second part discusses the family relationships about the hermits in the Eastern Han Dynasty. On the one hand, I will discuss the family structure and family ethics and harmony and discord in their family relationships. Seclusion affected their family, the family also affected the hermits’choice of seclusion. On the other hand, their family relationship is not static, but a dynamic process of development. By analyzing historical data, clarify the hermits’ family relationship and the main context of its’performance and development.The third part is a specific case studies, I selected the yang family in HongNong as the research sample. We well have a general understanding about their family of scholars and family trait. Analyze the causes and effects of the seclusion in the development process of the Yang family, and further noted recluse played a role in the maintenance of their family relationships.Through the above three parts, I described the basic situation of the hermits’ family relationships in the Eastern Han Dynasty, recognizing the inseparable link between the hermits and the interaction with their family.
