On The Poetic Relationship Of The Seven Works In Liszt 's Travel Years

In the early days of human civilization, the resource of poetry was as same asmusic, they were inseparable. With the development of era, poetry and music hadformed their own systems. In the Romantic Period, composers blended music withother artistic forms, included poetry, as to hunt for the multivariate development ofmusic.Franz Liszt is a representative composer, who mixed poetry together withmusic. The combination of poetry and music, was the artistic pursuit in Liszt’s wholelife. Most of Liszt’s musical productions were connected with poetry, especially pianoworks. This paper is based on the relationship of poetry and music existed in sevenpiano works among the <Annees de pelerinage>, to study the approaches toexplaining the poetry through using music, such as Relevance, Description andExpansion. At the same time，emphasizing the explanation of relevant music’production by poetry. In these cases, to discuss the literariness and the music of Lisztspiano composition and to analyze the advantages and disadvantages. This paperincludes following four chapters.Chapter One mainly studies from three aspects, those are Liszt’s own creativethoughts, the background of the age as well as the pursuit of program music.Therefore，we are aim to pursuing the reasons why poetry had become the musicaltheme of Liszt.Chapter Two brielfy describes the background of creating〈Annees depelerinage>,and music works about the poetry of Francesco Petrarca and GeorgeGordon Byron. Analyzing the reasons why Liszt selected poetries of these two poets.Chapter Three is according to music works in <Annees de pelerinage2>, andPetrarca’s sonnet，to study the approaches that music states poetry through analyzing the influence of poetrys structure in music composed，the music vocabularies arerelated to poetry, the way of mixing music and poetry.Chapter Four makes the music woks in <Annees de peleririagel>, togetherwith Byron’s poetries as center，to explore the methods that using poetry appreciatesmusic.The paper is aim to reflecting the way that Liszt mixed poetry together withmusic through studying seven music works in<Annees de pelerinage〉. Liszt’sunique musical form and the pursuit of program music, provides valuable experienceto the musical field.
