A Study On The History Of Pavsner 's Design History

Nicholas Pevsner was acknowledged as a distinguished20th century art historian, architectural historian, and design historian. As a prolific design historian, his thought has a great influence on the study of design history and later researchers, His early study art history and architectural history in Leipzig, Germany, Munich, Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany accepted the traditional art history education. When he was appointed as a lecturer in art and architectural history of the GottingenUniversity, gradually became interested in British art. Then because of the Nazi rise andmoved to London, engaged in art history, architectural history and the history of design.Published in1936,"the pioneer of the modern movement‐from William Morris to Walter Gropius "called the western modern design history beginning work, to lay oneimportant status of Pevsner in western design history. After this, Pevsner completed andpublished many design works of history, have a greater impact on design history, laterscholars known as "the founder of modern design history".For the disciplines of design history, the study of the history of design historian governance methods and ideology have a more important value. This paper attempts to analyze and demonstrate respect Pevsner from academic origin, thought development, historical impact, further study and explore the history of design ideas Pevsner on the basis of their predecessors. Meanwhile, the rapid development of the domestic history of design disciplines today,I hope that through this research, thedesign history thoughtsof Pevsner make some discussion,,and to provide a basis for thedesign history as a discipline in China and the development of design history researchand writing.
