By combining the theories of TV Arts, gender theory, feminism and sociology of culture, this paper analyzed the reason why the gender changed in the political, economical and cultural perspectives. After that, I examined the meaning of the gender change on the basis of the analysis of drama texts.Through the analysis of the characters’gender in the14urban TV series which directed by Zhaobaogang, we find that there are two aspects of change in the gender of the urban TV series. In the aspect of gender qualities, characters’ androgyny has been expanding with fastening pace but the one-sex dominant tendency has been decreasing. In the aspect of gender roles, equal relation replaced the master slave relation. These changes are not only influenced by the social development, but also required by the development of the urban TV series itself. This paper argues that the urban TV series provides a focus and perspective of gender for the audience and the values will have a certain function of demonstration and guidance to the audience. On one hand, the characters’ androgyny in the TV series criticized the binary opposition of gender in traditional system, and made people’s personality rich and complete. On the other hand, there are also present on gender stereotypes in the play which need to be improved. Therefore, this paper argues that the creator should uphold the concept of cultural consciousness when he stick to artistic innovation.Through shaping the character of subjectivity and equal relationship to build healthy gender culture. |
