Li dong’s philosophy comprises four aspects, namely,“Li Yi Fen Shu”,“Mo Zuo ChengXin”,“Sa Luo Rong Shi”, and his political thoughts. Firstly,“Li Yi Fen Shu” emphasizes theunderstanding of “Ren” from “Zhi Zi Shang Yong Zhu Li”, putting forward the thought of “LiBu Huang Qi Bu Yi, Suo Nan Zhe Fen Shu Er”. He points out the distinction betweenConfucianism and other heresies lies in the acknowledgement of “Li Yi Er Fen Shu”, especiallyin the understanding of “Fen Shu”. Secondly, Li Dong advocates the static experience ofapperception of thing happening or not.“Mo Zuo Cheng Xin, Ti Ren Tian Li”. Li Dong learnstruth through meditation and further gains some apperception. In the mean time, during thisprocess he values the concept of nourishing air. Combining with what Mencius says about thenight air, he teaches Zhu Xi that nourishing and storing night air is the key factor of self-restraint.He combines nourishing air with speech and thinks that nourishing air should be started fromspeech and leads it to real life. Finally, Li Dong uses “Sa Luo Rong Shi” to solve thecontradiction between “Li Yi” and all things on earth, which is a method of deducing theoriesfrom things. Li Dong puts Luo Congyan’s subjective internal meditation into daily life, transferring the subjective “Zhi Xing” to “Jing Xing”, emphasizing “Ri Yong Chu Xia Gong Fu”,achieving “Ti Yong Wu Jian”. Though living a secluded life in the mountain and never work forthe government, Li Dong deeply worries about the current situations of the nation. He advocatesresisting Jin Dynasty and against negotiating peace. On the other hand, he proposes to rectify thethree cardinal guides and the five constant virtues to bring law and justice to people. Thesethoughts of Li Dong have a significant influence to the formation of Zhu Xi’s thought. Direct orcritical inherited from Li Dong, Zhu Xi is deeply influenced by Li Dong in his “Ren Wu Li QiTong Yi”, the philosophy of studying the nature of things, the philosophy of neutralization andhis political views.
