Imagery Analysis In Ellen Poggot 's Novels

Edgar Allan Poe(1809-1849), regarded as one of the influenced writers in the19th century American literary, wrote many kinds of short stories in his life. His famous works as "The Gold-Bug"、" The Black Cat ","The Tell-TaleHeart" and "The Fall Of The House Of Usher" and so on. Thediversification of the use of symbolism and images are the important factors.Therefore, in this paper, based on the classification of image, I want to explore theeffect of image, also helpful to study the novel of Edgar Allen Poe. Even helpful to thedevelopment of the whole gothic novel.This paper adopts text reading method, from the visual angles of literature,social, and tried to classified the images in the works of Edgar Allen Poe, mainlydivides into the name of the animal image, transformation of places images and siteof changes in the weather. In addition to the inheritance of traditional gothic novelimage, also created a new image, this thesis focus on exploring t several importantimages, and actively explore the role of imagery in the novel text. Images are notonly enriched the characters personality, but also promoted the artistic value of gothic novel itself. At the same time, the images of realistic care effect also cannot beignored; they reflect modern society, human common a lonely, lonely, and morbidpsychological consciousness. Through the different images in the novel, the herocharacter has changed; originally brutal exposes the human nature, a teaser image,as to speak.
