| Germany used to pay little attention to the international environment movement.In a long period Germany has once objected to environment protection. However,influenced by the international environment movement, Germany has changed itsattitude. Especially after the German reunification, new Germany has rised to be thepioneer of the international environment movement and made significant contributionto improving the global ecological environment. Whereas the research on theenvironmental diplomacy of Germany hasn’t turned to the hotspot as Germanybecame the pioneer of the international environment movement. Starting from theGerman perspective, the thesis reviewed and investigated the relevant theories ofenvironmental diplomacy with the main clue of time and event sequence. Incombination with the basic policies adopted by Germany in improving environment,the author of the thesis comprehensively analyzed the behavior of Germany in thediplomacy of international environment. The analysis and introduction of the Germanenvironmental diplomacy through various perspectives has provided historicalreference for Chinese environmental diplomacy.Starting from the investigation of environmental diplomatic theories, the thesismade an analysis on the subjective and objective bodies of German environmentaldiplomacy, the development and change of policies and the actions taken by Germanyso as to define the basic policy of environmental diplomacy of the new Germany.Finally, based on the analysis of the recent environmental diplomacy of Gemany, theauthor predicted the posssible trend of the future environmental diplomatic policy ofthat country.The first chapter of the thesis made an analysis on the basic theories ofenvironmental diplomacy. The author has firstly defined the relevant concepts ofenvironmental diplomacy and clarify the primary elements and main issues inresearch of the environmental diplomacy. Then, by the means of the elaborate analysisof the theories and practice of environmental diplomacy, a result that cooperation andvalue of mutual-protection were the core of environmental diplomacy is obtained inthis part. In the end, the author discussed the relationship between environmentaldiplomacy and other traditional security issues in order to find the significance ofenvironmental diplomacy. The second chapter is one of the cores of the thesis. Firstly, it introduced theorigin and development of German environmental diplomacy from the post-WorldWar II to the reunification of Germany. Secondly, through the analysis of theexecutive agency of German environmental diplomacy (subject) and diplomaticobjects (object), the author has integrally revealed the environmental diplomaticsystem of Germany in which the theory and practice of German environmentaldiplomacy were presented as well. Thirdly, the author analyzed the subjective andobjective reasons for the execution of German environmental policy and introducedthe corresponding measures adopted by Germany. Last but not the least, in the light ofthe adjustment made by Germany to cope with new environmental problems, theauthor introduced the environmental diplomatic policy of new Germany incombination with specific examples of the climate change.As another important part of the thesis, chapter three comprehensively analyzedand predicted the German environmental diplomacy. Germany has acquired greatprofits via environmental diplomacy. Meanwhile, through the implementation ofenvironmental diplomacy, Germany has revealed its elegant demeanor and attitude tothe world, which effectively promoted the development of the internationalenvironmental protection movement. Besides, people all tend to hold a positiveattitude towards the future trend of German environmental diplomatic policy. |
