In1956, the first Henan Yu Opera film "Mulan" created a historical box officerecord and attracted114million people to watch the film. In early1980s,followed by the rapid development of the Henan Yu Opera film, the otherfamous Yu Opera films such as Mu Guiying, Tang Cheng, Shuanbao’s Mother, etc. were successively appeared. They not only witness the history of ChineseOpera film, but also make a great role in promoting advocacy. However, fromthe beginning of the21st century, the traditional Henan Yu Opera films havebeen faded out the film market due to their limitations.In2009, Director Zhu Zhaowei’s two successive Henan Yu Opera films"Cheng Ying Rescues the Orphan " and "the Wind Pavilion" were awarded"Best Opera Film ", and this can be recognized as the return of Henan YuOpera films. Through these two films, we can see that Director Zhu Zhaowei istrying to explore the two long-term issues/limitations existed in Henan YuOpera film-"sluggish paces" and "artificial scenery", and he tries to solve theproblems by applying film technologies to traditional Henan Yu Opera films. Then, Director Zhu’s unique style of Henan Yu Opera film has been graduallyformed. I believe that this style will direct the further development of HenanYu Opera films and brand a revolution in the field of Chinese Opera film.
