The aim of this paper was to study vitamin C in Sonchus Oleraceus L. The absorbance was scan at 190-5 10nm by the ultraviolet spectrophotometer and the strongest absorption peak is at 267nm and the content was calculated. Results showed vitamin C for these parts was flower>leaf>stem>root in April and flower>leaf>root>stem from May to July. Vitamin C content in leaf was higher in April. Vitamin C content in flower was higher in May. The aim is to study iron in Sonchus Oleraceus L. The content of iron was determined through 1,10-phenanthroline spectrophotometer method at 510nm in Sonchus Oleraceus L. The amount of buffer solution and pH which infected the content of iron was tested, Test conditions were pH 5.0 and buffer solution of 5mL.The samples were prepared by dry digestion process and wet digestion process respectively, Results showed iron for these parts was root> whole plant> leaf, the relative standard deviation was within 1.7%, the recovery for the added standard samples was 97.6%. The contents of flavonoids in Sonchus Oleraceus L grown at different months and their distributions at different parts of Sonchus Oleraceus L were detailed studied in this article. The extraction process of total flavonoids from Sonchus Oleraceus L leaves were optimized through orthogonal design method. It was discerned from the experiment that the extraction solvent concentration>liquid-solid ratio>extraction time. The optimized extraction condition is that the extractant to raw material is 20:1, extraction solvent is 75% alcohol and extraction time is 2h. The flavonoids contents in different parts were flower>leaf>stem>root. Flavonoids in Sonchus Oleraceus L collected in April were higher than that of other months. The results indicate that method has the merit of being quick, simple and accurate, The results were valuable for the further development and utilization of Sonchus Oleraceus L resources.
