In order to meet the demands of large-scale simulation in the WAN (Wide Area Network), the task group putforward the design notion of hierarchical RTI (Run Time Infrastructure) server based on internal mutual operation protocol. Since in hierarchical structures, many RTIs are required to keep harmonious in network in order to serve the large-scale simulation, the realization of its structure is more complex than RTI of other structures. Moreover, the ownership management of hierarchical RTI is a management relatively difficult to realize among the six management services of RTI. The main difficulty lies in: under the conditions of reducing systematic communication as much as possible, how to keep the ownership consistency of various local RTI (LRTI) in the system, how to guarantee the fairness of obtaining ownership among the members, and how to efficiently realize the internal mutual operation of various LRTI necessary for ownership management service. Since ownership management is one of the three major indicators evaluating the RTI performance, studying the efficient ownership management service in hierarchical RTI is of great significance to the realization of RTI server capable of supporting large-scale simulation. The paper first introduces the basic concepts of RTI and the features of hierarchical RTI systematic structures, and the development of ownership management and its present status of research. On that basis, further research and realization of ownership management service of hierarchical RTI are conducted. The major tasks and innovations of the paper are as follows:1) On the precondition of ensuring the correctness of system, reduce the systematic communication as much as possible; put forward the notion of infirm consistency of various LRTI ownership state information, i.e. ownership state information of each LRTI keeps consistent at LRTI level (that is ownership belongs to which LRTI), while that information may be inconsistent at federate level (that is ownership belongs to which federate) and is subject to the LRTI of the federate. This infirm consistency can both guarantee the correctness of ownership state from the global perspective, and reduce the communication between LRTI, thus efficiently realizing the transfer of ownership.2) In order to ensure the fair competition for ownership among the federates, put forward the mechanism of source filtering among various LRTI and set up the pending alignment designing, thus both reducing the interchanged information of various LRTI ownership and satisfying the ownership request of federates in a certain order, ensuring the fairness of obtaining ownership among the various federates.3) For the internal mutual operation necessary for efficiently realizing ownership management service among the various LRTI, define 9 extended services of ownership managements the same time,in order to support the extended services, expand the function of the standard sercides of ownership management. Those services not only provide supports for the efficient realization of hierarchical RTI ownership management, but also have compatibility with the service before.4) Realize the ownership management service by the hierarchical RTI software StarLink+ based on CORBA,give the example of interaction diagram and the realizationmethod of many services. The tests shows that the realized ownership management service meets the IEEE1516 standard perfectly and effectively completes the property ownership transfer. The performance test by the benchmark method put forward by NASA for the property ownership transfer shows that the performance is comparable to the commercialized RTI software pRTI widely used internationally.Lastly, the paper summarizes the achieved research results and generalizes further research tasks.
