With continual renovation of computer technology and fast development of the multimedia technology, the traditional peripheral interface can't meet the development of the computer for it has a lot of shortcomings.The Universal Serial Bus is put out recently, and it has a series of advantages, such as high speed, easiness to use and expand, supporting Plug and Play and cheap cost, so it is widely used. Different from other interfaces, USB interface norm is totally opened, so it has obtained unprecedented vitality.This paper has introduces the current situation of the development of dataacquisition and USB bus and the performance and characteristic of PDIUSBD12 chip at first, then provides the hardware design of AT89C51 and PDIUSBD12. The design of firmware and device driver is a focal point in this paper. In firmware design, the design of every module is given in detail, and some source codes and program flow charts are provided. In device driver dsign, some tools used for driver procedure development are introduced, the design of the main module via WINDDK is described in detail. Host computer application program is to control data acquisition system and show gathered data, and it is relatively simple to design.
