For the multi-input multi-output (M1MO) system employs multiple transmit antennas and multiple receive antennas simultaneously, which can use the signal's space resources sufficiently and increase the capacity of the mobile communication. So the MIMO technology meets the demands of multimedia applications and high speed wireless access, it's an very important key technology to the next genetation mobile communicaton .To develop an MIMO system, except the detection algorithms which have low complexity and high performance, exact channel estimation is important. Because of having more channel parameters, MIMO channel estimation approaches are more complex than SISO channel. The work in this thesis is a part of the Nature Science Research Project of Anhui province "Research on blind adaptive multi-user detection in CDMA systems" (03042208) . The limit to channels can be further induced by utilizing blind channel estimation based on higher-order cumulant. So in this work much investigation concentrates on the blind MIMO channel estimation based on higher-order cumulant. The paper is organized as follows:At first we analysis the existing blind channel estimation methods based on higher-order cumulant, and compare their performance by simulations. We concern on the source iterative algorithm based on inverse filter error and improve its optimization algorithm. By combining the improved algorithm and the frequency domain MIMO channel estimation algorithm, forming a new frequency domain MIMO blind channel estimation algorithm based on inverse filter. Then by analyzing the frequency domain MIMO blind channel estimation algorithm further, introducing the subspace projection in pre-whitening process, and improving the performance of the frequency domain MIMO blind channel estimation algorithm. Finally we prove the validity of above improved algorithms and compare their performance by matlab simulations.
