By synthetic asymptote, the topic of this thesis is to develop simple and accurate CAD formulas for application in practical microwave integrated circuits (MIC) on grounded substrate of two layers. With "bootstrapping", one can get CAD formulas from simple to more complicated and practical structures, such as from the formula of patch capacitor to that of square spiral inductors. In this thesis, CAD formulas are obtained by synthetic asymptote for three structures, from simple to complicate. The top layer is assumed very thin for all three structures. First, we obtain the simple CAD formula of a patch capacitor on a grounded substrate of two layers; and then, using the same process, the formulas are obtained for a microstrip line on a grounded substrate of two layers; finally, the CAD formulas of a square spiral inductor on a grounded substrate of one or two layers are obtained by synthetic asymptote and analytical moment method in bootstrapping manner, that means the formulas of a complicated structure can be obtained from those of simple structures. With a few arbitrary constant for every formula, the average errors are less than 2% for all the formulas in this thesis. Since the formulas are derived and not curve fitted, their range of validity can be large covering whole spans of almost all the parameters in the formulas. And the formulas are simple, accurate, and give good physical insights. The characteristics of these formulas are very useful for the design of practical MIC circuits.
