| The programme material is not only the soul of broadcasting and TV, but also the drive and major content of digital and network of TV-media. With the increasing development of digital technology, the request for share and immediate exchange of programme materials (esp. news materials) between different TV stations is becoming more and more urgent. The remote programme transmission system mainly provides a programme-exchanging platform for respective local programme-making units in different locations. With the help of this system, the time-effectiveness of TV news reporting can be improved, and the quantity and quality of TV programmes in various styles can also be promoted through the full use of abundant programme resources.Beginning with the analysis of the history of digital TV development and the existing condition of programme transmission technique, the thesis firstly highlights the significance of making research on the remote programme transmission system.Then , after the analysis of the management of programme materials by media asset management system, the thesis points out the weakness of the current programme transmission technique, and proposes to construct a remote programme transmission system in which the programme materials are transcoded before transmitted. A detailed analysis of consumer demand for system function is then conducted, followed by a brief introduction of relevant standards involved in the system.Based upon the above research work, the thesis gives a systematic analysis of the major operation flow and data stream of the remote programme transmission system, and then establishes the function model for the system. Furthermore, the study makes a general functional structure design for the remote programme transmission system to divide the whole system into eight functional modules, which are precisely designed and realized through a complete analysis of the frame construction, physical construction and runtime environment.
