During recent years the technology of human face detection and recognition are becoming maturity, meanwhile which have achieved remarkable accomplishments. However, the way of thoroughly solving the problem in this field is still far away, it also remains an active research field nowadays. This paper presents the new method of the technology of human face detection which bases on the integration of complexion model, singular value decomposition and support vector machine; at the same time it also presents the new method of the technology of human face recognition which bases on the integration of wavelet theory, singular value decomposition, vector quantization and hidden morkov models.The paper is composed of six sections. The first section briefly recommends the relative research achivements and theories in human face detection and recognition, and introuces the major research direction; the secion two and three describe the relative theories in the fields of technology of human face detection and recognition respectively; the section four and five introduce the new methods, arithmetic flow and programs realization in the fields of technology of human face detection and recognition respectively. The last section discusses the advantages and disadvantages in the fields, and raises the further research direction in the future.The results of experiment indicate the new methods of the technology of human face detection and recognition are available.
