Object shape is its basic part that is full of feel meaning. In computer vision and pattern recognition, shape is a significant pattern to be recognized. Shape recognition and retrieval occupy an important position in graphics & image processing. As a method for describing shape, Fourier describer is applied widely in shape recognition and retrieval, at the same time, Fourier describer is improved and developed continuously. In this paper, on the base of considering the characteristic and applicable condition of all kinds of methods, shape recognition and retrieval has been done by using Fourier describer combined with algorithm. Work did in this paper is show as follows: 1,The shape of binary graphic file saved in form of BMP has been gained through outline track,and the shape was expressed just using finite points and saved after standardization; 2,In this paper two groups of shape were selected,and the Fourier transform was putting on every shape standardized,then Fourier describers of every shape were gained; 3,The comparison of difference among the Fourier describers of each group testing shapes was made ,which was used in shape recognition and retrieval; 4 ,Compared with other methods, the advantages and...
