A novel method of target motion analysis (TMA) is presented in this paper. This method makes use of the noise signal received by a sonar to extract the motion parameters of the target by a method of long-time-and-space integration (ST1). In this paper, it theorized the STI algorithm and adopted the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to extract the maximum of the long-time integrated spectrum and then got the target motion parameters. The algorithm is tested by the simulate data generated by the computer. In the end the process of practical trial data proves the validity of the model. The results of computer simulations and the practical processed trial data proved that this approach can give stable and valid solution. The main advantage of the STI method is that it obviated the restriction in the submarine's maneuver. Secondly, it provides a way of detection of the weak target at the same time of the course of TMA The third, this method makes use of the lower frequency of the noise, which has a lower transform lost, and the integrating time is much longer than that used in a conventional beamformer, which enhances the processing gain greatly and has a longer range of detection. The shortage of the STI method is that the precision of the algorithm relies on the stability of the frequency of the line spectrum and the maneuver of the target.
