In the decade passed, we saw a dramatic development of the Internet technology and increase of Internet users. The information resources shared over Internet was building up at 10 times of increase each year. Therefore, building up the professional information system for specific field becomes a new topic in recent years. And developing into the specific and depth direction has been a new trend in the new era of network information resources construction. This paper, was set forth to the issues derived from network information resources collection, organization, management, integration, retrieval and publishing, present a solution to building up the professional information system. In order to demonstrate the principle of the approach dressed in this paper, the subject-oriented network information system for clinical medicine was developed based on the database construction principles set by CALIS. The studies included in this paper were cpncentrated on the following aspects. First, the search engine techniques were discussed and this paper pointed out how to combine robot with manual methods to collect network information. Then the principles and criteria of data collection were described in detail. According to the professional direction, this paper emphasized on the organization methods of specific network information resources. The classification methods and subject methods based on MESH terms were discussed and data organization by characteristics of resource was also elaborated. At same time, the paper discussed how to deal with the relationship among the organization methods and the relationship between the organization methods with information retrieval. Furthermore, the paper studied metadata describing subject-oriented network information and pointed out the problem about metadata is one of the most important factors to organizing data. Next, the data integration and full-text search techniques were discussed. At last, based on above studies, the subject-oriented network information system for clinical medicine was build up. This system attempted to provide tools for helping medical professionals and other users to acquire and exchange useful information easily and rapidly. Furthermore, it would give a general frame of building database of subject-oriented network information for other fields.
