Furnace Strip Correction TV System is a new generation of industrial TV system, which has functions of image acquisition under the circumstance of extremely low illumination, strip edge extraction, position measurement and making strip centered automatically all along. It can observe furnace work condition and correct the strip at the meantime, which covers the void of domestic research.According to technique of image pre-processing and feedback control and radiated characteristic of furnace, the model, working waveband and parameters of CCD is settled. In this system, we adopt the NICCD to collect the real-time images, in the working wave band of NICCD, infrared wave filter and LED supplementary illumination technology are adopted, which extremely strengthen the quality of image of the furnace, and raise sensitivity and the accuracy of entire system. During the course of pre-processing for image, in order to reduce the influence of random noise and to make the edge information reserved completely as far as possible, the spatial filter which is similar to Sobel operator is adopted to smooth the image. Afterwards, we select a rectangular field from the image, each pixel in the field we select is handled by Sobel operator and a certain threshold. The gray value of each pixel is calculated by column-adding routine. The accumulated value is restored by an array, we design a program to find maximum value of the array, the column where the maximum value exists is the edge of the strip. According to the initial position we get a feedback signal which will be transformed to a simulated signal output of 0~5V or 4~20mA.Based on the domestic and oversea trend of development, we proposed a new furnace illuminating source with technology of CCD and near infrared, which can work normally with the temperature of not more than 1200°C. It own broad field of illumination, low dissipation of thermal energy and electrical energy, and low cost.
