Edge detection is an important topic in the field of image processing. Wavelet transform is a new signal analysis technology after the Fourier transform and short-time Fourier transform. Edge detection based on wavelet transform has many properties, which can inhibit the noise and detect image edge accurately.Construction and selection of wavelet filter are critical parts in edge detection using wavelet. Construction of symmetric regularity wavelet filter and image edge detection based on wavelet transform are investigated in this thesis. The main contents can be listed as follows:1. Summarized technology of image edge detection based on wavelet transform.2. By biorthogonal filter banks and wavelet analysis technology , construction of biorthogonal symmetric regularity wavelet filter is presented and construction formula is given.3. By energy conservation criterion , construction of non-orthogonal symmetric regularity wavelet filter is presented and construction formula is given.4. Experiment result showed that the filter constructed in the thesis has high performance for image edge detection.
