Because of the effects of wind, wave and tide, the ships anchored in ocean ports usually move in Six Degrees of Freedom . The movement affects the ships' anchoring tasks and others. In addition, the movement will also affect the force put on the shipside and the power that should be put on the cables of ships. Sequentially, it will influence the design parameter of the ports. In physical model experiments of the ocean engineering, the 6-DOF motion of a floating object must often be measured accurately in order to supply reliable technical gist for research and design. In the early time contact 6-DOF detection system has been developed and the signal input is usually from sensors. Just because of the sensors' self-weight and the inconvenience to fix the sensors, the accuracy is affected to some degree .So the non-contact detection system must be developed. The theoretical background for the non-contact 6-DOF detection system to be introduced is based on machine vision. By the use of calibrated cameras the real image is taken and through image processing technique with DSP, the world coordinates of the feature points touched on the floating body are investigated, and then the 6-DOF of the floating object is decomposed. In this paper, the first thing is to introduce something about the project, then the composing and the holistic design of the whole project, after that is image processes including the reconstruction of the world points and so on, the following is the introduction of hardware and software integrated circumstances such as CCS, and then is software development and program optimizing, at last the conclusion and expectation is shown.
