According to the development of the CMOS Radio-Frequency Integrated Circuits and the wireless communication technology ,using the advantage of UWB, CMOS RF down-conversion mixer for UWB communication system is designed. And it can be widely applied in UWB communication system.Firstly, the necessity of designing the research of CMOS RF mixer for UWB communication system is discussed by analyzing the actuality of the RFIC development and the application of the UWB technology in wireless communication.Secondly, the mixing principle and UWB technology is analyzed deeply. Summarized some parameters that will be used in design.Thirdly, the CMOS mixer is designed according to the RF design flow. The main process includes following: analysis of device model, design mixing circuit, impedance matching. Devices model including: NMOS FET, Resister, Capacitance, Inductor. Device model is analyzed deeply according to the RF Spice file of SMIC. Designed the CMOS mixer circuit for UWB communication system, and the device parameters. Discussed the way of impedance matching for wide band circuit and narrow band circuit. RF port . LOport and IF port are matched to 50 ohm.Lastly, using 0.25um RF spice file of SMIC. simulated the mixer circuit with Hspice software. Maked the FFT analysis for this circuit, prove the design is right. Tested the parameters of mixer circuit show that the design fully have accomplished therequirements.
