Nowadays, wireless broadband access technique has been an inevitable trend for wireless communication technique development. For the serious multipath delay in wireless channel, channel characteristics become very deleterious. All these make the conventional time domain equalization too complex in single carrier system. The application and the growth of single carrier transmission technique are limited in wireless broadband access. Single carrier transmission scheme with frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) is provided by IEEE 802.16a standard, which is the main objective of this dissertation. This paper introduces basic characters of wireless channel, single carrier modulation and demodulation principles, signal frame structure design of SC-FDE system and the method to generate pilot signals (Unique word). Based on the theory of digital signal processing, it validates the effectiveness of frequency domain equalization algorithm and improved method. With the aid of Matlab software simulation, this paper investigates a full single carrier frequency domain equalization scheme for Wireless Metro Area Network (WMAN) interface regular.
