The Multi-sensor Information Fusion(MSIF) means taking the measures coming from multi-sensors into synthesize, using the complementariness of the information to form an integrated description, with which the intelligent system's accuracy can be improved. The MSIF technology provides a powerful means for intellectualized information process.The MSIF technology is studied systematically in this paper. The development,function modes and common arithmetics of MSIF are introduced, and the consistency of sensors' data is discussed. As an important part of this paper, the information fusion arithmetics based on Kalman filter are studied emphatically. At last, an intelligent watercraft tonnage-measuring system is designed in theory, and an effective way to solve this problem is given.A two-grade adaptive MSIF arithmetic based on multi Kalman filter method is proposed, which can fusion the redundance information and the complementary information efficienly. The results of the simulation indicates that the arithmetic can enhances the fault-tolerate capacity, gurantee the high accuracy and reliability of the fusion output.Based on the study on the Kalman filter theory, a intelligent tonnage-measuring system for freshwater watercraft is established. A multi-sonor information fusion system is designed according to the system. The 'changing reference system'method and 'steady filter' method are used in this arithmetic to improve the accuracy and reliability. The results of the simulation indicates that the system is effective and feasible.
