Proxy Cache is the most important technique to solve the Web traffic and relax net bottleneck. Some research works have been conducted on this area and result in some fruits. Research on Proxy Cache is a complicated work because there exist a lot of problems such as replacement strategy, cache consistency, cache sharing and performance analysis. In this dissertation, research has been made on the topics of user access model, replacement strategy, and cache sharing. Some of the achievements are used in the design and implementation of a proxy cache system on our Web Server Cluster. The contribution of this dissertation arrives from the follows:First, a more efficient replacement strategy-Adaptive Least Costalgorithm is presented based on analyzing the user access behavior. The user access behavior model helps predicting page accessed and directing the replacement. Adaptive Least Cost algorithm can reduce the access delay.Second, Adaptive Web Caching System with Centralized Management is presented to implement the proxy cache sharing system based on global shared messages. The technique reduces great extent and improves the access delay without lower the hit rate of the system.Third, implement the caching system with Squid software, in addition to apply Linux Virtual Server for balancing workload.Finally, in order to promote hit rate futher, research on personalized information agent technology and come forth putting WebWatcher in proxy caching. In addition, the dissertation analyze disadvantage of personalized technology and put forward next researching issue.
