Research Of Implementation Of Region Of Interest Of JPEG2000

Computer is more and more applied to process image and other multimedia, how to compress image effectively for saving resource becomes a research hotspot at present. Many international standards are designed for image compression, JPEG2000 is the newest standard of static image compression. To maintain the image quality during the image compression is also a difficult problem .People often interest in some part of the image and neglect other part of it ,which is the Interesting Region Coding Thought. With this thought we can obtain the balance between the image compression and image quality, reaching excellent compression effect on the basis of keeping the image quality.The author focuses on the JPEG2000 standard discussion and Interesting Region Coding Thought, and according to the actual situation proposes one method which can reduce the complexity of encoding and reach Interesting Region Coding effect. The structure of the paper is as follows: In Section 1, the author analysis the image compression basic flow for the generality, In Section 2 the author briefly introduce wavelet theory which is the basis of the discrete wavelet algorithm adopted by JPEG2000 ; In Section 3 the author carry on the detailed analysis to the JPEG2000 standard, analysis every block of encoding, specially analysis lifting algorithm of wavelet in JPEG2000 and EBCOT algorithm; Finally in Section 4 the author analysis the standard ROI method in the JPEG2000 standard, proposes one method can get the ROI effect and reduce the encoding complexity.The author selects the OpenJPEG library which the Belgian UCL university developed to build a compression tool to produce the JPEG2000 format file , at the same time select the French Corporation's software which can provide the ROI encoder and produce the JPEG2000 format file at same time (Morgan JPEG Toolbox2.0) to carry on the contrast test, the author select identical picture to be compressed by two kind of tools and carries on the contrast.It has been proved by the experiment that ROI effect could be gotten and destination files produced at same time can be compatible with standard decoder by using the method presented in this paper.
