In the early years, ontology was only a philosophical concept. Since 1990s, researchers introduced the concept of ontology into the fields of artificial intelligence, knowledge engineering, and information management, which changed the meaning of it. Ontology now refers to the description of concepts and the relations of them in one field. Through the descriptions of the relations, it defines the semantic meaning of the descriptive object/target. This thesis employs the expression of uniform ontology knowledge, and thus clarifies many misunderstandings of the concepts in the field. Therefore, makes it possible for the co-understanding and exchange in the same field or between different fields.Nowadays, due to the great amount of different distributed isomeric enterprise information systems in the garment field, the rapid digital and network information responding exchange was greatly restricted, and it has become the bottleneck of realizing the rapid responding system of the garment field .The purpose of this thesis is to put the ontology theory into the garment field and realize the isomeric information exchange of the field. The basic idea of this thesis is based on the concept that "ontology is a conceptionalized description of an object's inner model". Through constructing the sharing vocabulary base, it is to find the "common understanding" of different concepts, and thus to realize a wider exchange on the ontology level between isomeric systems.The author of this thesis analyzed the popular ontology constructing methods, studied several problems in the constructing process, and paid special emphasis to the ontology expressing problems of the description logics and OWL language. On the basis of on these researches, it comes up with the creative constructing method of the garment ontology particularly targeted the garment field. Based on the idea of soft engineering, using OWL to express the terminal ontology, the method utilizes the excellent reasoning ability of description logics and facilitates computer processing. When the constructed ontology is below the evaluating standard, this method will constantly revise, supplement, recycle and evolve the ontology, making the ontology from general to specific, from simple to perfect, and eventually reaches the evaluating standard. The ontology constructing method that separates the expressing process makes the constructing process more specific, reduces the involving degree of experts in this field and is good for the evolvement and high-evaluation of the ontology.According to the characteristics of information exchange among garment enterprises, this thesis puts forward an information exchanging pattern among the garment enterprises based on ontology, states the central designing idea of the exchanging pattern, and then analyzes the realizing method of the object expressing area, the relevant data area and the service applying area. This exchanging pattern makes sufficient use of the advantages of the ontology, realizes the information exchange between two enterprises through ordering ontology. Finally, on the basis of information exchanging pattern of the garment enterprises, it explains the key technology of realizing the original system, depicts an experimental method ofinformation exchange among the enterprises in the garment field.The research meaning of this thesis is that it introduces the concept, theory and method of ontology comprehensively and systematically into the field of garment. Through designing and constructing the ontology model, and the original information exchanging system of the garment enterprises, it sets a good example to the application of ontology in this field.
