Hyperspectral Remote Sensing (HRS) technology has great potential in the application of fine remote sensing quantitative analysis with more bands, high spectral resolution, much more information about the observed object and strong correlation between bands etc. At present, HRS has been widely applied in many fields such as geology, agriculture, environmental, military, forestry, water assessment, vegetation, sea remote sensing and has been the hot study topic in the field of the international remote sensing. Hyperspectral imaging system is one of the key components of the HRS technology, which directly effects the development and application of HRS technology. So the study on the hyperspectral imaging system and how to use it effectively for the acquisition of accurate hyperspectral data have great practically value. In this paper, the basic theory, development and application of HRS technology and hyperspectral imaging system have been reviewed. The main constitution parts, operating principle and characteristics of hyperspectral imaging system (HIS) have been introduced. The relations between main operating parameters of HIS are investigated simultaneously. Experiments indoor and outdoor using the imaging mode of installing reflect mirror was conducted. The experimental method, steps and notice for the imaging system were summarized, the cause of the geometrical distortion in the imaging mode was analyzed and the calibration methods are given. Finally, the hyperspectral data acquired by imaging system was investigated utilizing the hyperspectral analysis tools — ENVI hyperspectral Remote processing software, the information and accuracy supplied by the hyperspectral data were studied. The results indicated that the hyperspectral data acquired by imaging system can described accurately the object in scene.
