Based on two radar systems(the reconnoiter and interfere phase control array antenna system and communication planet adaptive null antenna system),methods of direction of arrival estimation in array signal processing and its hardware implementation are mainly presented in this paper. The common signal models and high resolving algorithms are firstly introduced, then the principle of estimation of DOA by propagator method is analyzed in detail. In order to compensate for the performance loss of propagator, some improvement is made. As the result of this, the loss of aperture is eliminated, the performance of DOA estimation is also improved. Parallel operation, lower computation and high precision are advantages of the method. So it is fitter for engineering than other algorithm. In addition, two radar systems estimating DOA are proposed in practice. If algorithms are selected by configuration of system, not only the specifications are met, but the cost is saved. Moreover, the design, programming and debug of null signal processor are discussed, especially many problems and experiences are summarized. All of these not only can be referenced by engineers, but be helpful to studying the lower complexity algorithms to implement.
