Presently, with the rapid development of computer network, the requirements of computer storage also have a huge increase. The bottle neck issues of storage also become more serious. But current mainstream storage technology is restricted by its static architecture, which only fits for fix situation, can not adapt to the continuous variety request.During the evolution process, evolutionary storage system can automatically choose the system organizing scheme which fits the current environment best, optimizing storage resource, keeping the dynamic balance of the system. The system will always adapt to the request of current application, no matter the storage devices are out of date or not. So the character the system shows is that the system will be better along with the use. The performance of ESS will increase gradually with the evolution. So it has great availability and maintainability, as a good storage management solution in mass storage field.By research, the design scheme and design methods are illuminated. On this basis, system evolutionary methods are achieved, including physical evolutionary method, logical evolutionary method, data distribution evolutionary method. Some key technique also is analyze, including Memory management realization this system, cache management realization and data share in the heterology environment. At last, system evolutionary methods are demonstrated in theory. It is proved that system performance can be really adanced. In the ESS design, biology evolution idea is used creatively, achieving the design and formation of introspective storage system. New research is done in the storage resource introspection,in order to be helpful for some other research in relative fields.
