Recent years, network technology develops very fast and networks keep expanding in scales. Good management and detection for network becomes more and more important. A fine network management and detection system can improve stability and security of network. Furthermore, it helps us to use network resources more reasonably, optimize the usability of network resource.The main research work related to the network detection nowadays is focused on the active detection technology. The network behaviors analysis becomes the basis of network building and upgrading. Due to rapid increasing of security problems, the passive detection, especially the anomaly detection has also been taken into account. A combination of these two methods used to monitor network behaviors is discussed so that we can know the network more deeply.This paper firstly introduces the related concepts, protocols, tools and developments of the network detection, gives the comparison of the two methods about their advantages and disadvantages respectively. Then, this paper dopes out future research direction and hotspot.The second part of the paper brings forward a solution in which the passive detection is triggered by the active detection. The experiment environments, module designing, code designing are also introduced. This is the emphasis of the paper.Another emphasis of this paper is how to build the network steady traffic model and network anomaly detection. In fact, the network traffic model is the basic rule and core content, it must based on theories and experiments.Network anomaly detection means real-time analysis for network traffic according to the above model, a good model may get rid of the most hidden trouble.The research of network behavior makes people understand more about the mystery of network and it must contribute to the development of network technology.
