In the current remote education developing process, the E-learning is an extremely important development direction. Conveniently and effectively answering the students' question is one of the important parts of the supports platform of network teaching, which can solve problem for students in time. Base on a thorough analysis and comparision of advantages and disadvantage of the several existing answering systems, this paper proposes a new design scheme-a real time answering system, which is integrated with some traditional classroom answer characteristics.The system uses the J2EE framework and with the pure Java language. The functional structure of system is divided into key function layer, conference affair management layer and the network management layer. The key function layer includes varioual functional modules and the control center. The network management layer performs the system management of three kinds of transmission agreements. Data message transmission as well as supervision of courses and members are accompolished by the conference affair management layer, which separeates the user function contact surface from the data transmission, courses and members completely, so that they are in two different layer planes respectively. This causes the client ends to communicate only with the conference affair management layer, but not to connect with other client ends and to manage and to maintain the information of other client ends.In the process of system realization, software engineering knowledge, such as, application software reused and factory pattern is full used to reconstruct the program structure, so as to form a perfect programming design project and to provided three reused program components which are the interactive text, the interactive sound and the interactive whiteboard.The system has realized answering in three ways which are text interactive, sound interactive, and whiteboard interactive, and designed a control center which make the teacher manage the students' text interactive, sound interactive, whiteboard interactive and their answering rights. In the system, the service ends of Socket, HTTP and LRMP can be linked with the client ends, and three sound compression ways can be used to meet the different network bandwidth requirements. The system has satisfied the demand of the real-time answering in remote education.Finally, the paper has realized a multimedia answering system based on theWeb with text, sound, and whiteboard.
