With the consistent development of the network, current network exposes a series of problems, such as scarcity of the address severely and explosion of the routing tables, that IPv4 can't resolve by itself. IPv6 is the core of the next generation internet. For the advantages of the huge number of addresses , security , mobility etc, it has become the historical necessity that transition from IPv4 to IPv6.This paper, under the mixed operation systems, implemented the communication of IPv6 hosts with each other by tunneling, and researched the mobility of IPv6. Although the applications of IPv6 still need a quite long time, for programming the way of the network development, providing technical preparation and support sufficiently for overall transition to the next generation internet and popularity of IPv6 application, it has vital significance of both the theoretical and practical to understand and research the important features of IPv6.In this article, the author analyzed all kinds of strategy from IPv4 to IPv6 transition, especially the tunneling. With existing network settings, the author designed a IPv6 experiment net, realized communicating with each other of IPv6 network node span IPv4 network by tunneling under multiplatform, analyzed experiment data and made preparation for the further research and carrying out network application of IPv6 under multiplatform.This thesis studied the mobility of IPv6. After comparing mobile IPv6 with mobile IPv4, the author expounded the virtue of mobile IPv6. According to the principle of mobile IPv6, making use of existing network settings, the author designed a mobile experiment net of IPv6 in the campus network. Based on Windows 2000 operating system, the author studied the mobility of IPv6 preliminarily, verified the technology of mobile IPv6, analyzed the experiment data in detail, expounded the communication mechanism of mobile node, in home network and foreign network, with correspondent node, explained the reason of communication time being quick and slow.Presently, it is rarely reported for multinode reaserch of the mobile IPv6.Multinode of the mobile IPv6 was researched preliminarily in this paper. The author realized multinode movement of IPv6 in a campus network, studied the communication mechanism of mobile nodes when they are in foreign network, and analyzed the experiment data of mobile nodes that communicated with each other.
