With the development of computer technology , the rapid expanding of application area and the increase of software developing scale and complexity ,software crisis shows up obviously. Improving software productivity becomes the urgent affairs for software industry. Software reuse is an important area of software engineering and considered as a leading approach to resolve software crisis and improve software productivity and quality. Software reuse is not only all right in theory, but also worthwhile in economics. Software reuse economics is a cross-disciplinary research, which combines software engineering and economics. It applies economic theories to software reuse development, establishes economics models of software reuse to estimate, predict, and analyze the costs and benefits of software reuse and investigate economic feasibility of its investments. It is proved by research and practice that Software reuse is easy to achieve success in special domain .So this paper researches the economics of domain-oriented software reuse investment. It analyzes and estimates the costs and benefits of domain-oriented application engineering development with software reuse, puts forward cost model and ROI model of application engineering based on investment index analysis. At the end, summarize mostly efforts of this paper, and explore the further work.
