Microcontrollers are widely used in industry. IDE is crucial to design MCU based applications. We now have no self-patented IDE in China's mainland. Using depends on import. They are mainly provided by such big companies as Keil company of Germany, Franklin company of America, IAR of Taiwan. It is imperative that we study their pros and cons and develop IDE of our own.8-bit microcontrollers are the most used microcontrollers at present. Though it is enough to use 8-bit microcontrollers, it does not mean that we needn't put emphasis on the promotion of 16-bit microcontrollers. 8-bit microcontrollers have developed to a great extent. But they are no substitutions for 16-bit ones in some complex system. The extent to which 16-bit microcontrollers are used in China is not great partly due to the fact that our promotion is insufficient. In writing this paper, we believe that we have to and also can make our research and developer team grasp the whole features of 4-bit, 8-bit, 16-bit and even 32-bit microcontrollers, and develop their new products in a better way.MCS-96 series microcontrollers are especially made for measurement and control solutions, such as DCS, inverter, and motor controller. They usually need real time processing, real time control. Chapter 1 is a brief introduction to MCS-96 16-bit microcontrollers.Chapter 2 describes the structure of a MCU developing system.Chapter 3 details the software developed by the writer of this paper, with Microsoft Visual Basic. It's called uBuilder.Chapter 4 presents some good advice for this software. Foresee it's development.
