Rapid Prototyping is a new technology developed since 80s of twentieth century. It is the integration and interactive application of many subjects such as mechanical engineering, CAD technology, numerical control, laser technology and material technology. By the help of stratified method of computer aid technology, RP technology sequentially and continuously processes each layer of the model, and then the object model is spliced eventually. RP technology is widely used in many fields such as industrial manafatruing, automobile, architecture modeling, medical apparatus, human organ modeling and archelogy. 3-D reconstruction based on image sequence is a new technology in recent that come from the combination of computer vision technology and computer graphics. It can recover the 3D info of scene by the geometry constraints between image sequences. It includes image maching, camera calibration, 3D-reconstruction, dense maching, depth estimation and texture mapping. It is widely used in video games, virtual reality walkthrough and industial rapid prototyping. On the basis of study and analysis of common camera calibraiotn algorithm, a model plane camera calibration algorithm based on iterative optimal is proposed to accomplish the mission of camera calibration. It has both the accuracy, simplicity of photogrammetric calibration and the flexibility of self-calibration. The camera distortion model is builded and the distortion parameters can be estimated by iterative optimal algorithm. Both computer simulations and real image data indicate that the calibration result of our algorighm is more stable and accurate. On he basis of analysis of RP system and 3D-reconstruction systems, the method combining 3D-reconstruction system with RP system is proposed. It realizes the industrial application of 3D-reconstrucntion system. In this paper, the algorithm of the directly triangulation from 3D scattered points is used to simplize the traditional ways. The algorithm can output the result of triangulation which can be easily converted into STL type files used in RP system. Many tests indicate the feasibility of pratical application of the combination of 3D-reconstruction technology and rapid prototyping technology.The oriented RP application 3D-reconstruction system is developed with VC++ and OpenGL, which can realize scene 3D-reconstrucion quickly based on image squecnce. The system output STL model which can be used directly in RP system and provide model data for RP system.
