With the rapid development of Internet, more and more people gain the conveniences of Internet technology, and the same time, another problem arises: the request to the quality of Internet service and network speed is becoming more and more strict. Although the network bandwidth is widening, the quantity of users is rising continually, the access speed is becoming more and more slow for the overload of origin web server, the transport distance and so on. Proxy server becomes particularly important to research its interior details, especially the cache algorithm, which is the core of proxy. Web pages browsed by users would be saved in the cache of HTTP proxy server. If a user browses the same page and the content are not refreshed, the proxy delivers the cached pages to user rather than downloading them again. So the cache speeds up the visit to the same web site. The paper includes six parts. The first part of this paper expounds the protocol of HTTP, analyzes the core causes of www service access delay, which make us use cache. In the second part, the cache technology, the theory of proxy cache system, the performance benchmark of cache system, the considerations when designing a cache system are expounded, which provides academic base for designing the application model of proxy cache system. The third part of this paper introduces the mechanism of cache replacement policy, as well as many popular replacement policy at present. At the same time, a new cache replacement policy is pointed out with the considerations of the characteristics of WWW service. In the fourth part, the scheme of designing the proxy cache system is described. The fifth of this paper is the technological scheme and implementation. At last, the summary of this paper, the advantage and the pending improvement of this system are introduced.
