The Developing And Design Of E-learning Administration Platform

The E-learning administration platform plays an important role in the process of E-learning, which is the requirement of the E-learning. What is E-learning administration platform? It is a software platform which can manage the experience and knowledge in the field of E-learning digitally. It spreads information via network so that those data can be shared, operated and reused by other systems or users. It's ultimate goal is to build a supporting system for the learners' learning.Usually most of educational information administration system(EIMS) adopted the Client/Server(C/S) framework. This type of framework(C/S) is suitable for the internal EIMS developing, whose users are limited to the internal staff. But e-learning administration information platform is different from traditional EIMS, whose users cover broadly. These users cover students, teachers, principals and administrative staff in the college, and those related staff working in the teaching branches of the college set up in other province and so on, so you can't only use C/S framework to develop e-learning administration information platform. J2EE is the product of SUN, which is an American distinguished company. J2EE produces a developing model with new concept, which summits three-layer developing theory. This framework adds another layer between Client and Server, and moves those application wares runned in Client before to the middle layer. This e-learning administration platform adopts three-layer framework. Three-layer C/S framework and B/S framework based on J2EE are used in the platform.The main function modules-system administration, teaching branches administration, administrative administration and courseware administration have been developed and used in Distance Education College of East China Normal University and had a big success. Other function modules are still in research and developing.
