It is a problem which database deviser and developers concerning very much that how to regard a DBMS application system as a whole availably and to improve its running efficiency. It affects directly the degree of the customer accepts with whole system. It is also a pivotal factor to apply the system successfully. This thesis is to discuss the performance optimization of database application system, according to the development of a Human Resource System and combining with the using experiences of DB2.Firstly, the thesis is to introduce the database application system performance and its optimization contents,method .Then we point out the researching contents of this paper and the solved problem.Secondly, in this paper we mainly research and discuss the performance of database application system based on three facets: database designing, query optimization and parameters tuning. Analyzing and comparing some kinds of optimization techniques, to conclude and to summarize some practical tuning method, technique and measure to increase the system' s performance.Finally, we adopt some excellent optimizing method and technique to increase its performance with the example of the Human Rresource Management Information System .(1) Designing and assigning the tablespace and bufferpool and adopting appropriately correlative optimization method and technique to optimize the performance of the system practically.(2) Optimizing the data dictionary, parts of sources code SQL sentence and parametric query optimization.(3) Adjusting and improving record parameter, performance parameter and application parameter which affect the performance of the system primary.The performance of system has enhanced certainly by a series of turning and improving. It obtains a good usage result, and has a high practical value.
