Power system is a complex dynamic system. This paper concentrates on the research of power system low frequency oscillation based on angle measurement technology. Introduction of the angle measurement technology, comparison of kinds of analyses for eletromechanical oscillation, application of Prony method to the data obtained through wide-area measurement in power system analyses are studied in the paper. The main studying achievement of this paper are listed as following:1. The paper presents introduction, comparison and existent disadvantage of some method for low frequency oscillation. In order to overcome these problems, the Prony method based on angle measurement technology is used. It' s ability to estimate the frequency, damping and strength of modal components would be quite valuable to power system research.2. The angle measurement technology based on GPS is introduced briefly. Simulation with MATLAB and PSASP, and the validity of Prony method based on wide-area measurement through GPS for power system low frequency oscillation is shown in this paper.3. An application of Prony signal analysis in controller design for multimachine systems that is based on incorporates both local and interarea electro-mechanical oscillatory modes is introduced.4. In the article some critical technology such as multi-thread OCI Socket and select function was analysed. To meet the requirement of real_time power network supervisory system, a novel method is proposedto design and realize a data server.
