With the development of communication industry and improvement of society economy informazition,the ethernet switches become more important in network world.CPU system,the critical part of the ethemet switch,plays a more important role in the performance of the switch.Therefore,to develop high performance,strong stability and low cost CPU system is critical to the development of the switch.Processor vr4131,which is based on MIPS architecture and developed by NEC corporation,is emploied as the central process unit of the switch in this paper.After having learned about the vr4131 itself and its peripheral units,the author completes the driver of the whole CPU system,which includes CPU initialization,SDRAMU con figuration,interrupt realization,SIU and FLASH drive,the function of the software watchdog and SO on.The stability of system is improved and development period isshortened when changes the division type of FLASH and modifies the bootromsoftware structure.In addition,the idea of software watchdog function is issued and this function has been brought out which results to the stronger switch system.At last,the method of the system debugging and function quanlifying of the CPU system is issued by the author.In addition,author brings out the method of analyzing the status of program execution through the LEDU of vr4131 and anti-assembler instruction....
