| Digital signal processing technologies were used to produce spatial and directional beam in smart antennas. Then the main beam aims at the coming direction of reference user and the side lobe points to the coming direction of interference user. Smart antennas are classified to switching-beam and tracking-beam. Smart antenna technology has been confirmed as one of key technologies of the third generation mobile communication system, and will play an important role in the future. This thesis studies the key technologies of smart antenna, mainly including two aspects. In the first part, performance comparison of two different smart antenna systems is analyzed in uplink; the inherent advantages and disadvantages are evaluated with channel complexity considered. In the second one, a new algorithm of downlink beamforming is presented in this thesis because of some bottlenecks existing in smart antennas when applied in downlink. The algorithm solves the question of frequency difference between uplink and downlink. It is of great value in engineering application and is a good guide to theory study in the future. |
