A new type of multi-channel polymer modulator is introduced. This modulator works based on the guided-wave absorbent peak, whose depth is influenced by the dielectric coefficient of polarized polymer. This article first introduces the electro-optic effect of the polarized polymer. Then, the operational principle of double-channel ATR (attenuated total reflection) electro-optic modulator based on guided waves resonance is explained. The structure parameters of the modulator are optimized. The fabricated techniques and the performances of the modulator are discussed. It is shown that this new type of modulator needs simpler fabricated techniques and has lower inserted loss than other modulators.
